DIAPERS. AND SUPPORT SERVICES. (áááFIRST ALERT TOM OPENááá) <NOW FIRST ALERT WEATHER WITH CHIEFT METEOROLOGIST TOM MESSNER> (áááWALLááá) —————————– ——— Mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions follow for Thursday as the aforementioned surface high shifts offshore and strong low level jet of 40-60kt at 925- 850mb traverses the region. Mixing heights arenút extremely high, likely only a couple thousand feet AGL so not expecting the see these winds fully reach the surface, but fairly widespread gusts of 20-30kts are likely, perhaps locally channeled up to 35kts in the Champlain Valley. Temps will rebound nicely from chilly morning lows with highs east of the Greens in the upper 30s to lower 40s, and mid 40s to around 50 westward. Gusts abate Thursday night, but a modest 10-15kts surface flow will persist, and with skies remaining partly to mostly cloudy, expect lows to be mild in the 30s to low 40s. && .SHORT TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/… As of 338 PM EST Wednesday…This probably is the pick of the week as temperatures will reach the 50s in most areas. Nudged temperatures a touch higher than a lot of the guidance given the strong synoptic southwest flow in advance of a cold front. Outside of occasionally gusty winds and mid- level clouds, it should be a pleasant day Because of the breezy conditions, temperatures will also stay mild through the evening hours. Timing the cold front passage is somewhat in question, as some model guidance is several hours slower than others. Feel that somewhere in the middle is most likely, which would bring the front through towards tune

The cold air has lingered for Thursday morning with most of our area having dipped into the teens and low 20s, there’s not a ton of wind left to make wind chills that much worse, but even a light breeze will sting with temperatures this low. Plus, wind will quickly be picking up throughout the morning so it will be quite windy by the afternoon. It’s a south wind today though so it’ll end up a little warmer than Wednesday was with highs back into the mid 40s despite the mostly cloudy sky. A few flurries could fall too but most will stay dry.It will stay windy overnight but mid with lows only near 40 on Friday morning and highs by the afternoon in the mid 50s. It’ll still be breezy and mostly cloudy. Overnight Friday a weak cold front will pass, spitting out a couple showers, but mostly it’ll just cool us back off for Saturday.Highs over the weekend will be in the low to mid 40s, which is pretty normal for this time of year and it looks like we’ll be dry for most of it too. Maybe some hints of sun, especially on Saturday. But Sunday night will bring a system that will pass to our south, prompting rain showers into Monday morning and turning to a light mix by Monday afternoon once the system passes. Behind it will be the cold air and Tuesday will top off in the 30s.Follow the weather team on Facebook: Tom Messner | Caitlin Napoleoni | Tyler Jankoski | Ben Frechette
