A wet system arrives from the Mid-Atlantic today and after a day of sunshine yesterday today will be very different. We’ll start dry with clouds increasing early and temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Warm air will build in ahead of the system and get our temperatures into the upper 40s by the afternoon. Showers will begin for southern Vermont mid to late morning and will push north and become heavy for the rest of us by early afternoon. Heavy rain will continue through dinner time.Wind will also pick up during that time. It’ll be out of the southwest so the western slopes of the mountains will come away with the strongest gusts that could be above 35 or 40 mph through midnight. From there rain tapers to showers and while we’ll have a solid breeze on Tuesday it won’t be nearly as windy by then.Expect scattered rain showers along with warm temperatures on Tuesday morning. Temperatures will stay in the mid 50s through most of the morning and midday and then will start to fall as the system shifts slowly east. By the afternoon the mountains could see some rain turn to a mix or snow as the cooler air filters in.This system will be stubborn to fall apart so we’ll see a few more snow showers on Wednesday with temperatures barely reaching 40 and a lingering breeze. Thursday will be drier before a wuick round of light snow again Friday. We’re also watching a potent system that so far seems it will bring rain, snow and wind to our region at the start of next week.Follow the weather team on Facebook: Tom Messner | Caitlin Napoleoni | Tyler Jankoski | Ben Frechette
