Some light, scattered rain is leftover on Tuesday morning, but so is the warm air. Most are in the upper 50s and even some 60s, while northern New York is cooler, but still in the 40s. This split is thanks to a cold front stretching right across our area from north to south. The warm air will manage to stay put for the morning but as the front shifts east the cooler air will slowly filter in. That same system will keep a few more scattered rain showers around through the rest of the day and the wind. Wind won’t be as gusty as Monday. The system will continue to fall apart as it inches east Tuesday night into Wednesday, although showers won’t be widespread, they’ll be stubborn and they’ll interrupt the parts of Wednesday, especially in the mountains. With the cooler air wrapping around this system and into our area some of those showers will fall as snow in the mountains. Highs in the Champlain Valley will be near 40.We’ll dry up for Thursday and may even get some sun with highs in the mid 40s. Friday and Saturday will hold a few light mixed showers along a weak front but nothing substantial. Sunday also holds the chance for a few rain and snow showers.Next week looks a lot colder with highs in the 30s. So far the start of the week is trending dry but we’ll adjust that as needed in the coming days.Follow the weather team on Facebook: Tom Messner | Caitlin Napoleoni | Tyler Jankoski | Ben Frechette
