‘Parking lot dinners’: Man finds creative way to support hurting restaurants

A man from Colorado came up with a unique solution to support local businesses during the pandemic. Many restaurants have closed for indoor dining due to the coronavirus pandemic. Some have limited space or budgets to allow for outdoor seating or heaters. But Chad Hart, a fellow business owner in Arvada, wanted to support restaurant owners that have become his friends. So he started bringing his patio. “We go set up our dining area, we have some parking lot dinners you know with our heaters going to support local businesses,” Hart told KUSA. Along with his own heater, table and chairs, Hart also brings his own candles.”We got to create a little ambiance,” he said.Hart said he’s careful to follow all regulations, stays socially distant and has enjoyed numerous meals at restaurants that were glad to have him. “I turn on a little music and make it my evening. It’s my time to eat, so I make it as fun as possible,” he said.Hart said he wants to make his outdoor dining a weekly tradition in which he visits a new restaurant.
