
A major investigation into eight fires in Stowe has resulted in the arrest of a Vermont man.Vermont State Police said Wednesday that they’ve arrested Jeffrey Nolan, 62, of Stowe.They said he admitted to setting the fires, some of which date back to nearly two years ago.One of those fires destroyed a building on South Main Street that housed several businesses back in February 2019. Another that same day damaged part of the Stowe Public Library.Officials said the most recent fire was Jan. 7 at Stowe Cablevision, which had previously been targeted in another fire back in August of last year.The damage runs well over $1.5 million combined for all eight fires.Police said Nolan was sent to jail and is due before a judge Wednesday to face eight counts of a second-degree arson charge.The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), the Stowe Police Department and the Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit were all involved in this investigation.
