Some scary moments in Plattsburgh Thursday afternoon as a car crashed into a bank.The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle crashed into Community Bank on the corner of Route 3 and Smithfield Boulevard just before 4 p.m.Police said the driver, Maria Delrio, 65, of Plattsburgh, was going too fast for the slick pavement and couldn’t stop in time.First responders said no one was hurt.Photos from the Plattsburgh District No. 3 Fire Department showed visible damage on both the exterior and interior walls of the building.Police said the driver was ticked for “speed not reasonable and prudent.” Delrio is due in court at a later date.Town of Plattsburgh code enforcement also responded to the scene to evaluate the structural damage to the building.The bank remains open for drive-through transactions. A representative for the branch told NBC5 the lobby remains closed to the public as precaution related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
