Firefighters battling a brush fire along Interstate 89 near Colchester. At around 5:30 p.m., part of the roadway had been reduced to one lane, causing traffic to slow. Officials with the Milton Fire Department said there were hot spots for about a mile near the northbound Colchester exit. Drivers were being asked to avoid traveling on that section of I-89 as crews work to extinguish the flames. Dry conditions and high winds made the fire difficult to fight. The fire had to be fought from multiple locations and was eventually contained and put out.The cause of the fire is currently unknown but it is not considered suspicious.
