Texas man becomes first person to run from Disneyland to Disney World

>> I HAD NO IDEA. REPORTER: UNTIL HE HEARD THE CHEERS, DON MUCHOW DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. >> THE SECURITY GUARD SAID, “ARE YOU THE RUNNER?” I THOUGHT, OH MY GOD. HERE’S THE ESCORT OFF DISNEY PROPERTY. REPORTER HE RAN FROM DISNEY LAND IN CALIFORNIA, TO DISNEY WORLD IN FLORIDA. AND GETTING A BIG WELCOME AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM, HE FELT HIS SPIRIT LIFTED. >> I LOVE YOU GUYS THIS IS THE BEST SURPRISE IN THE WORLD. REPORTER: HE’S 59, HE IS AN IRONMAN ATHLETE FROM TEXAS, AND IS NEARING THE FINISH LINE OF A TRULY CROSS-COUNTRY RUN. HE PLANNED TO START AT THE PACIFIC AND END IN THE ATLANTIC. STOPPING AT THE DISNEY PARKS, WAS A HAPPY ACCIDENT, BORN FROM A CONVERSATION WITH A CONFUSED FRIEND. >> HE SAID, SO I ASSUME YOU’RE RUNNING FROM DISNEYLAND TO DISNEY WORLD? AND I HADN’T ACTUALLY THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY. REPORTER: AS A DISNEY FAN THOUGH, INCLUDING DISNEY WAS A GREAT FIT, AND HE SAYS, THE PUSH HE NEEDED TO FINISH THE LAST LEG. >> I’VE JUST BEEN ON CLOUD SINCE THEN. REPORTER: HIS BIGGEST MOTIVATOR THOUGH, THE REASON HE’S RUNNING ABOUT 2800 MILES ACROSS THE COUNTRY — HE WANTS TO SHOW HIS TYPE 1 DIABETES ISN’T HOLDING HIM BACK. AND AFTER DECADES OF DEFYI LIMITATIONS FROM THE DISEASE, HE WANTS TO PROVE TO OTHERS THAT THEY CAN, TOO. >> MAKE THAT CHOICE, RATHER THAN THE CHOICE OF FEAR. Texas man becomes first person to run from Disneyland to Disney World

Video above: Man runs from Disneyland to Disney WorldA man from Texas just finished a run between both Disney parks on either side of the country.Don Muchow, 59, is the first person to run from Disneyland in California to Disney World in Florida.The Ironman athlete from Texas is finishing up with an even bigger goal, ending the journey by running toward the Atlantic Ocean off the Space Coast. Muchow expects to reach his destination Wednesday afternoon. Matt Lupoli of sister station WESH 2 caught up with Muchow along the way on his sprint towards the finish. A man from Texas just finished a run between both Disney parks on either side of the country.
Don Muchow, 59, is the first person to run from Disneyland in California to Disney World in Florida.
