Summer concerts and local shows can happen this summer after many were cancelled last year. It’s been a tough year to be a musician but as state Covid-19 mandates ease up more and more gigs are being booked.”We have two shows in June,” Dwight Ritcher from Dwight & Nicole said. “I think it’s extremely important that things are going on.”Bands and musicians finally able to book shows this summer concert season. Venues are reopening and restaurants are welcoming back acts, as people feel more comfortable heading out to listen to music again.”I would say that I miss the outdoor festival season,” Ritcher said. Not everyone will be back this year. This weekend would’ve been Waking Windows in Winooski.”The fact that the town and the state is opening up a bit more is helpful that it is falling into this weekend so we’re able to highlight what would’ve been a very festive event,” Nick Mavodones from Waking Windows said. Organizers of the festival have teamed up with Winooski Mutual Aid. Participating businesses in Winooski are accepting donations this weekend.”One of the best parts about Waking Windows is really how much of its foundation is celebrating the community of Winooski,” Amy Cronin, Winooski Mutual Aid x Waking Windows Weekend Collaboration, said. At the Shelburne Museum, tickets are already on sale for the Higher Ground summer concerts.”We’re very pleased to bring music back to our corner of Vermont,” Tom Denenberg, Director of the Shelburne Museum, said. Friday was the first day of tickets sales for the first show, selling out almost as quick as the tickets opened up.”It sold out almost immediately. I think the shows that people are already wanting to go out.”
