It’s been a tough year for businesses in Montpelier, and Montpelier Alive wants to help get people out and about again. “It’s incredibly important that we start to come together again. We’ve all been isolated in our homes and not even in work places together anymore. So, coming together as a community and sharing that experience I think is super important,” said Montpelier Alive Executive Director Dan Groberg. The nonprofit supports local businesses and saw events slow down over the past year due to the pandemic. Scrag Mountain Music is a two-time event grant recipient. Last year, limitations required the group to get creative.”By doing a series of pop-up concerts in different locations as kind of a scavenger hunt. So there was a combo of people who were unexpecting of these concerts, and fans who had clues to find out where we were going to be at certain times,” said Evan Premo from Scrag Mountain Music. It’s been a challenging year for local musicians, and Evan Premo says they’re excited to get back out there. ”Doing our best to keep things as safe as possible depending on the conditions at a certain point. I’m excited to be doing live concerts again, and that will be coming soon,” said Premo. Getting community back together again is something Montpelier Mayor Anne Watson says boosts spirits and the local economy. “As we have events like these, I think that is a clear signal to the general population that we’re going to be ready to start opening up again. I know everyone is really excited for that and I know we want to make sure that we’re doing that in a safe way,” said Watson. Any organization big or small can submit their event ideas to Montpelier Alive with this link here. The organization says, they’re excited to see what’s ahead.
