baby is. How cute. NBC five first warning weather with meteorologist Tyler Jankowski. Tyler you were there, did you? I did not run but I went there to see some of our people across the finish line and we saw brian already. But I want to show you this picture here of Team NBC five at the finish line, brian posted some more pictures on his facebook page. His side gig. Now a fitness code. Five days to five K. So you can look on his face and see the video and the pictures he did. He did well though, under 35 minutes. So We’ve got some rain while some is uh under doing it. I think it’s raining pretty good across northern New York. This is a light to moderate rain so wet along Route 11. Unfortunately if you wanted to grill just not the best night, it is a little lighter over Northern Vermont. I know the Lake Monsters are still playing. Have been watching the radar there, there’s just not too much right over Burlington or just south of town yet, but if you go all the way down to Rutland, see how it’s a little steadier. So the time is or the clock is ticking. This steadier rain is moving to the north here at a decent clip. It’s certainly steady across southern Vermont right now. And as you take a look at the regional picture, rain for all of New England all the way back into pennsylvania, but it’s a pretty sharp edge here and it’s not really making much progress east yet. But I think as we go through tomorrow, this whole system slowly moves out to the east and the sun comes out. So it turns out pretty nice by this time, I think tomorrow 54 right now in Burlington, only forties in the middle of the Adirondacks. Right now we won’t even mention lake champlain. Still low to mid fifties 50 right now. The temperature 11 but still a lot of 40s on the map. So the message is clearing by sunset on Memorial Day, Tuesday and Wednesday both looked nice and then a very strong indication that a heatwave starts next weekend. A lot of nineties in the forecast. So the steadiest of the rain. 10 o’clock tonight. Just some showers left over in the morning tomorrow. Now watch this two o’clock still dealing with showers mostly over Vermont tomorrow, but this is sunset or close to it. The sun coming out. So dryer window there later tomorrow as the sun goes down and then there’s some more clouds on Tuesday, a pop up showers possible. But I think overall Tuesday’s pretty nice when you look at the rain totals, it’s still the same idea we had last night with the most south and east, just a few 10th of an inch in the champlain valley. That’s from what happens tonight. So on the lake tomorrow, the waves of foot or less with a north wind 5 to 10 knots, but again, not the best day for being on the water with all the clouds. We’ve got a temperature forecast tonight that’s mostly in the forties with that rain coming through. And remember that clearing by sunset tomorrow for Memorial Day 60 in South Hero. So chile and uh, 60 in lake placid as well. For southern areas, we’re talking about 53 In Dover. So here’s the first five days with 76 on Tuesday back to about 80 or so on Wednesday. So yeah, it warms up. But look at what happens when we add five more days Every single one of those five additional days in the 90s. So that Saturday and Sunday next weekend and beyond, it just looks like a huge surge of heat and eventually humidity. So summer really kicks into gear there, Liz. All right, Tyler. Thanks. Yeah.

NBC5 First Warning Meteorologist

Take advantage of the cool, “refreshing” air while you can because it won’t be long before we start to feel the sticky, hot and oppressive air. It will start off nice on Memorial Day morning with temperatures in the 40s and a few stray showers. While the afternoon won’t be a washout you can expect more scattered showers to pop up, especially the further east you are. It’s thanks to an exiting system that will push in a few wraparound showers. It will also pull in the cooler air so it won’t be nearly as warm as we originally thought with highs barely up near 60 for the Champlain Valley. We will eventually start to see clouds clear from west to east in the evening.Tuesday will be warmer with highs in the 70s and some sun comes back out but do watch out for a few pop up showers in the afternoon. Wednesday will be back near 80 by the afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds.Showers move back in Thursday, which will likely be the wettest day of the week wih mugginess starting to build in. By Friday it will feel pretty humid and highs will be near 80, plus there will be a few more showers through the end of the work week. This weekend it when the heat really gets cranking. Expect highs on both Saturday and Sunday to be near 90 with the humidity making it feel worse. Sun and clouds each of those days. Highs near and above 90 are possible through the middle of next week. That means it’s very possible we’ll have a long heat wave and the humidity will be bad each of those days too.Follow the weather team on Facebook: Tom Messner | Caitlin Napoleoni | Tyler Jankoski | Ben Frechette
