Periods of rain today

Showers fall on Thursday morning as folks are headed out the door, but it will at least be nice and warm with temperatures in the 50s and 60s to start the day. Lots of clouds throughout the day with any steady showers becoming more scattered. Eventually a line of heavy rain and storms will pass west to east from about 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Most will have just he run of the mill downpours, gusty winds and lightning. But there could be some embedded storms that are much stronger with damaging wind gusts being the biggest concern, especially for those south of the Champlain Valley. Please stay weather aware through the afternoon! Temperatures will be a little cooler than Wednesday, mainly in the 70s, but it will start to get muggy.Warm and muggy on Friday with a little more sun in the forecast and highs in the low 80s. Don’t rule out a stray afternoon shower or brief, weak storm. From there the heat and humidity get worse.Highs Saturday will be near 90 with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Low and mid 90s on Sunday with humidity once again making it feel worse. Be ready for the oppressive heat and humidity coming this weekend, especially if you plan on being outdoors a lot! While there will be lots of sun both days there could be a few pop-up, isolated storms that develop. It’s more of the same for next week with our hottest day likely being on Monday with highs in the mid 90s and a mostly sunny sky. Low 90s and still humid on Tuesday too. The timing of a cold front that will eventually bring relief is still uncertain but so far it looks like we won’t get that relief until Thursday.Follow the weather team on Facebook: Tom Messner | Caitlin Napoleoni | Tyler Jankoski | Ben Frechette
