On March 16, 2020, Mayor Miro Weinberger placed an emergency order on the city of Burlington – causing an almost complete shutdown for businesses. Today, the emergency order has ended.The city can no longer enforce COVID-19 guidelines on any business through the emergency order. Weinberger planned for the emergency order to end three weeks ago, after Chittenden County reached an 80% vaccination rate.Local businesses have been slowly adjusting to the lifted guidelines.“We’ve certainly seen volume increase but there hasn’t been much fanfare as its happened, so I guess in a word it feels weird,” said Michael Cyr, the director of marketing at the Skinny Pancake.To help celebrate the city’s progress, Burlington School District is expanding the number of summer classes and camps offered this year. Burlington city arts will also hold weekly outdoor concerts.
