Maria and Joseph Sawaged sat in their living room Monday, with babies in both arms. It’s a moment they’ve waited years for. “Yeah, so we tried many treatments to begin with. And there was 13 treatments total,” Joseph said. After experiencing their fair share of disappointment, the Sawageds found out last year they were expecting quadruplets. Sister station KETV talked to the couple back in April, as they awaited the arrival of their miracle babies. Maria’s actual due date was June 25. As with many sets of multiples, this little crew came early, arriving on April 30. Maria spent a month in the hospital for monitoring ahead of the birth. “It was an exciting day. Definitely nerve-wracking. We were both nervous, what was about to happen, but it was, I think we were more excited to finally meet the babies,” Maria said. The Sawageds welcomed three boys and a girl: Luca, Barrett, Tychus and Julianna. The couple said all four were born healthy, and while they each stayed several weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit, the four little ones are all at home now. “Science, finally got it for us. So we have our, we have our full family now,” Joseph said. The Sawaged quads did pretty well for their first big on-camera moment, though mom and dad said they’ll usually let you know when they need something. Going from a family of two to six overnight, Maria and Joseph are adjusting to this new normal. “A lot of people ask well how hard is it?” Maria said. “I can’t tell you that I’ve never had just one baby. So to me, this is my normal hard.”Their advice to other couples struggling with infertility: never give up.”There’s gonna be lots of times and months and I mean it’s gonna, you’re gonna say to yourself, ‘I don’t want to do it anymore,’ but never giving up. And just, even if you have to take a break, take a break. Months, you know, a year, whatever it may take. Just keep trying, if that’s what you want, and never give up,” Maria said. Now, the Sawageds are soaking up every snuggle and looking forward to a busy and bright future. “Enjoying every single moment no matter how hard it is. Even the late nights, we’ve been having to get up, that sometimes we will say oh my goodness, we’re so tired, but I’m just enjoying that. That night, we get to spend those minutes, that hour with the babies by ourselves — just us as a family,” Maria said.
