Heavy rains and wind making for a lot of damage in Chittenden County Tuesday evening.Two Burlington residents found a tree on top of both of their cars along St. Paul Street. The trunk of the tree landing on a Suburu, the branches and leaves almost completely covered a Jeep.”We just moved here about a month and a half ago from super rural Vermont where trees come down all the time so we were like oh we might not lose power tonight and uh definitely didn’t expect this,” Jill Savage, Burlington resident owner of the Jeep under the tree, said.”it was really loud,” Mia Kosel, Burlington resident and owner of the Suburu, added. “We heard what was like a branch or something but it was so loud we didn’t realize like a whole tree came down but it was so stormy outside that we had to go back inside and when we came out I went “I bet it’s my car haha” but it is my car.”Both car owners said they’re grateful that no one was hurt and that they are insured.All across the region, many saw flooding. Police had to block off Pine and Lakeside this evening, where heavy flooding made the conditions unsafe for cars to come through.Some people lost power. At the intersection of Hinesburg Road and Kennedy Drive, traffic lights were not working briefly. Many residents and businesses in that area also losing power. In front of Burlington Podiatry, big branches down in front of their building. The downed tree limbs almost hiding the building from the road.
