WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – The road under a Watertown overpass is back open after the top of a tractor trailer load hit it Tuesday.
That incident happened at 2 p.m. and the westbound lane of West Main Street had to be closed off to traffic.
City officials say a CSX bridge foreman inspected the overpass, removed a couple of pieces of loose concrete and deemed the structure safe.
We asked CSX for comment. Here’s their response:
“At CSX, safety is at the core of everything we do. Bridges throughout our network are thoroughly inspected using detailed protocols by dedicated bridge inspectors who are knowledgeable about engineering standards. The Main Street Bridge in Watertown, New York was inspected following Tuesday’s vehicle strike. No structural damage was discovered and the bridge is safe for train operations.”
