Fire heavily damages Pamelia home

PAMELIA, New York (WWNY) – A woman and her two sons are okay after a fire broke out at her home in the town of Pamelia Friday.

Crews were called at 11:30 a.m. to Military Road, also known as County Route 53.

The garage caught fire and it was spreading quickly to the house.

Officials said that Arlene Williams, the elderly woman who owns the home, initially did not want to leave the house, but her two sons were able to talk her into getting out.

Nine fire departments were called in to help – so many because it’s tough to get volunteers during the middle of the day.

No injuries were reported.

There was no word on what started the fire. The Red Cross is helping the family.
