A family has been reunited with their family pet more than two years later.Yesenia Madrigal and Richard Figueroa lost their dog while living in El Paso, Texas. The couple says someone left their gate open, and that’s when Max escaped.Madrigal and Figueroa moved to Omaha six months ago. Before they left, Madrigal updated her contact information with the American Kennel Association.Two weeks ago, someone called to say Max had been found just five minutes from their old home. The 13-year-old canine is microchipped, which helped identify his owners. But the family says money was tight, and they could not afford a flight to Texas. A GoFundMe was set up to reunite pet and owner. However, just after it went live, a man, known only as Barry, decided to pay for the whole thing.Max’s owner flew down to Texas to get him, and arrived back at Eppley Airfield Monday morning.
