The Vermont Dept. of Health said Saturday that it has confirmed the state’s first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Health officials said the person infected is in their 30’s and lives in Lamoille County. The health dept. said the person was fully vaccinated and had been experiencing mild symptoms. The Vermont Dept. of Health is partnering with the Broad Institute to investigate positive cases of COVID-19. Experts said the Omicron variant has been found in at least 40 U.S. states so far.Global research is finding that the Omicron variant spreads faster and more efficiently than the Delta variant. “I can’t emphasize this enough: All Vermonters need to be as protected as possible, as soon as possible.
