LOWVILLE, New York (WWNY) – Lewis County gets a new state-run COVID testing site starting Wednesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced late last week.
It’s just outside Lowville at the Maple Ridge Center.
People can register starting Monday. You can do that here.
The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays.
Rapid testing along with send-out PCR tests will be offered.
County Manager Ryan Piche says county officials did not ask the state for help, but they’re happy to take it.
“It was a service that we were happy to pay for and provide to the community, but when the state offered to come in and take it off our hands and expand availability, we figured, sure, it certainly can’t hurt,’ he said.
Piche says it’s unclear exactly how long the state will run the site.
A state-operated site opened earlier this month at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
You can set up an appointment at that site at samaritanhealth.com. There’s a link for COVID-19 testing information at the top of the page.
