Not much snow expected Friday

WPTZ

Updated: 11:57 PM EST Jan 4, 2022

Now. NBC 5. 1st Warning Weather with Chief Meteorologist Tyler Jankowski. Well that just looked like a mess. I mean there’s not much you can do when that happens. Well apparently they threw down salt and then it rained so it washed away the salt and then it snowed on top of that and then they didn’t put any more salt down and that’s what you get. Yeah, I didn’t hear the backstory but I saw that and I thought we’ve got to be better drivers up here. I mean we get that like every weekend. Yeah. I just think they don’t have the resources down there that that we luckily have here. We missed the storm. That’s the bottom line. But we were cold that was the cold that we had, they had the snow. We had the cold anyways moving along we’ve got our own chance for snow on friday. It’s a 27 right now. I’m alone. A lot of spots have actually come up a few degrees from say six o’clock. It is 12 and saranac but that’s more the exception you can see a 15 and water burying a 20 Craftsbury right now down the road we’ve got a 21 in Lebanon so Church Street right now has less snow on it than it did three hours ago because the well equipment has been working to clear the piles off and it’s good timing too with the 40 degree warmth coming up tomorrow we’ve still got a 27 in Burlington but a lot closer to 40 by tomorrow afternoon so the clouds are overhead. There’s no snow. no reign over us, but that will slowly start to change moving along with the warm up that comes in tomorrow. The potential snow is still there on friday but it is a lighter snow that we’re tracking and saturday still looks really good, it’s kind of cold, but I think there’ll be a lot of sunshine and not much wind. So here’s future cast with the clouds overnight. There can be a little light icing, but that is new Hampshire and maine, I don’t think that’ll be over Vermont or new york as we go along and most of tomorrow’s drive by tomorrow evening, there’ll be some snow squalls that come across and then the lake effect snow machine really kicks into high gear and I think that could put down a couple of inches tomorrow night into thursday in parts of the Adirondacks, but really not much east of there. I think thursday should be a dry day in the champlain valley and with a lot of clouds of course. But as we go into friday, that is our potential for more snow. Just briefly wanted to show you where the winter weather advisory is. This is for the icing tomorrow. It’s not a lot, but it could be enough to make the roads tough and that’s just south and east of our area does include the upper Valley, but just a heads up in case you’re traveling in that direction. So this is the friday snowfall, this is the first time we’ve shown a map for friday and it basically has 1 to 3 inches in Vermont excluding the champlain valley With 3-6 as you head east into New Hampshire. So it is just not A big storm for Friday for us at least I think it’s more of a 995 thing, especially in Maine and up in that direction. So tonight is not as cold as last night to say the least. The clouds are with us. And then tomorrow with the clouds were still up near 40. So that’ll be nice. I don’t think we are dealing with snow showers and squalls though until tomorrow evening. So most of tomorrow will be dry. That is some good news. 42 in brattleboro and as we go through thursday, even though I think it’s mostly dry in the champlain valley, that snow will be with northern new york areas and then as we go into friday, it’s just that little bit of fringe impact from the storm that passes by. It is still 23 days out. So we’ll watch for any trends. But I don’t think it gets big. I don’t think it’ll turn out that way, Saturday’s pretty good even though it’s 18 we’ve got sunshine and almost no wind and then some rain and snow showers as we go into the second half of the weekend. Next Tuesday. So a week from today, It’s very very cold. The high only one Brian. All right. Tyler. Mhm. Right.
