Strong wind, rain on the way
Quiet holiday weekend ahead
NBC 5 1st Warning Weather with chief meteorologist Tyler Jankowski, that is so sweet. I love that story valentine’s day. Love hearing stories like that. It’s just so sweet. I get so like a little choked up. I know we’ve got, we’ve got some cold weather out there for tonight at least for a little while longer. But the warmer stuff is here later in the week. And for most of next week it’s single digits for Burlington right now. eight feels like -4. And as we go along, we are concerned about wind on Wednesday, especially the second half of the day for not everyone, but for the champlain Valley and for the northern Adirondacks. So a couple of power outages are possible, probably not a huge widespread thing, but localized issues. As we go into Wednesday evening we have minus nine right now in saranac lake, eight in Burlington and after the strongest wind on Wednesday there’s rain in the mix, still windy, but also with rain on thursday before a nice holiday weekend, there could be a flash freeze on friday depending on the timeline of the rain and the cold air coming in. But either way it looks a lot better for the upcoming weekend. So the plan for tomorrow is decent. It’s a little warmer 20 at two o’clock, a flurry possible in there, but not much snow to go around. You’ll see that here on future. Cast a couple of blue specks coming through Malone at eight o’clock in the morning and just about everyone else after that for the flurry potential. But that would be it. There’ll be some breaks, his son otherwise cloudy for tomorrow and Wednesday little son too. But a lot of clouds And really the wind is the big story on Wednesday in the champlain valley and for the route 11 corridor in northern new york, the rain really holds off until thursday morning early and for most of thursday it rains notice though as we get into thursday afternoon there’s very little blue, very little pink on the back edge of the system. So there could be a little snow but it’s always very hard for that to happen. So we’re not super uh amped up about that at this point. But the wind potential here 50 to 60 miles an hour, the worst of it. Three o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Albert closing in on 60 miles an hour Burlington at 50 same deal in Shelburne and also some of the downslope spots of the Adirondack. So Malone also at 50 mph or greater for later Wednesday. So those are the areas we have to watch closely, that wind brings us all the way up to 50 on Thursday, it does turn colder but not super cold for the weekend. 28th high on Friday. And the long range outlook, once we get beyond this thaw for next week is also mild. The red on the map means forties, a lot of the time for next week maybe a couple of times near 50 if the sun comes out. So very cold tonight. But this is the tail end of this cold spell. Tomorrow we’re up in the twenties and the champlain Valley teens for the Northeast Kingdom 19 in Morris ville and for Northern New York 16 and Malone 15 in Lake Placid and Southern Vermont even closes in on 30 for tomorrow. So we see that it’s mostly dry with that strong wind on Wednesday. But Thursday the rain comes down still some wind, especially for southern areas on Thursday. So it’s a little bit of a different area. Either way impact weather both days. Then we’re down into the twenties for friday and the weekend, the whole long holiday weekend saturday, sunday monday is seasonable, trending mild by monday, forties start monday President’s Day and stick around in the mid and late parts of next week. Alice Tyler. Thanks. Mhm. But
