PAMELIA, New York (WWNY) – Firefighters were at the scene of a trailer home fire in the town of Pamelia early Friday morning.
The home at 24143 County Route 32 — also known as Bush Road — is a total loss. Firefighters were called there just after 4:30 a.m.
The family who lived there and two dogs got out safely.
A shed behind the trailer also caught fire.
Northpole, Pamelia, Glen Park, Calcium, and Black River fire departments responded and took about an hour to completely extinguish the blaze.
Officials say it was a labor-intensive fight because the home was completely engulfed by the time they arrived.
“We’ve been getting pretty good turnouts at Northpole but these are labor-intensive projects for lack of a better term,” Northpole Chief Joe Wargo said . “They’re manpower-intensive projects, so getting more personnel here, the better. That’s why we have mutual aid companies coming in to relieve firefighters and help. Firefighters wear out quickly as you can see. Obviously we always need help. I’m not above a shameless plug to say volunteer departments always need help and this is why, if you look behind me. There’s a lot of work to be done in these situations.”
Fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
