Sara and Jean Hawkins have been married more than 50 years.This year, their finding joy, in the small things.“Just seeing all the children, and the different things they come up with, the floats, they put a lot of energy into it,” said Jean Hawkins. The Hinesburg July 4 parade passes right in front their home, they enjoy seeing how excited kids get over the sweets and flashing lights. Down the road in Richmond, thousands of people on hand for the town’s parade and party on the volunteer green. It’s the first time it’s been held in three years. “Richmond is resilient, that was the theme of our parade today, we knew people wanted to get back together after being cooped up for so long, it’s fun,” said Linda Parent with Celebrate Richmond Vermont. Local vendors, like Moose Mountain Maple, serving up kettle corn today.They’re happy to see such a great turnout during maple’s off season. “We love local businesses, we love supporting local business, we’re a small local business, we love all of our clients and we try to do our best,” said Christine Sayell with Moose Mountain Maple.
