WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A fire near St. Anthony’s Church on Watertown’s Arsenal Street shut part of the road down Friday night.
A heavy police and fire department presence was on scene to put out a fire on the property. The fire broke out in a garage-like structure known to most as the Mount Carmel Pavilion.
The Mount Carmel Pavilion stands at a distance from the church and crews were able to knock the fire down quickly.
No one was in the pavilion at the time.
The road remained closed while crews looked for hot spots.
Nobody was hurt, but there is significant damage to the back side of the building and the roof trusses. The cause is under investigation.
