
On Saturday morning, a GOP rally was held at Saranac Lake with statewide and local elected officials and candidates on hand.The headliner being Congresswomen Elise Stefanik.In less than three weeks, North Country voters will have to decide who they want to represent them in Congress – either Democratic nominee Matt Castelli or Republican incumbent Elise Stefanik. “We are working hard, traveling all over New York’s 21st congressional district,” said Elise Stefanik. “We’re getting overwhelming support — not just from Republicans, but from Independents and Democrats as well.”Joe Pinion, New York U.S. Senate nominee, shares in those sentiments.”She works tirelessly for the people that call North Country home,” Pinion said. “She’s a constant advocate for the specific needs that make North Country the envy of many places around this country.” People at the rally hope that if Republicans are elected, they’ll address concerns facing Northern New York — such as inflation, rise in fuel prices, and crime. Other candidates at the event included Michael Henry (U.S. Attorney nominee), Dan Stec (New York Senator 45 District), and Elizabeth Crawford (Franklin County District Attorney nominee).All of which are hoping there is a strong showing at the general election polls come Nov. 8.
