After a disappointing 2-1 loss to Syracuse University, the University of Vermont’s special season has come to an end. The Catamounts fan base has played a major role for the team throughout the season. UVM fans may have left Syracuse disappointed but they showed up strong, loud, and proud throughout the season and on Saturday once again left it all on the line for their team. “It’s one of the bigger things in Vermont , it’s called Vermont so they kind of represent the state so I think that’s why people get into it,” said Bill Edwards, a UVM graduate.Hundreds of UVM fans made the trip to Syracuse and embraced the extremely wet and windy conditions at their tailgate. “We’ve been working on this all year, as supporters as family and the boys are running hard, they love this weather and we love the weather too,” said family members of UVM players. UVM had not been to the NCAA tournament quarterfinals since 1989 and for some Catamount fans, this was a moment they will never forget. “It’s a special team, teams like this just come together once every 10 years, and it’s our boys that are coming together were just trying to find our stride,” said family members of a UVM player. Even with a disappointing end to the season, the UVM men’s soccer program and fan base have a lot to be proud of.
