Vermont State Police tell NBC5 News that they are looking at a St. Johnsbury man as a “possible person on interest” in the fatal shooting that happened just after 10 p.m. Thursday in Eden, Vermont.44-year old Shawn Rich was arrested early Friday morning after State Police stopped a vehicle he was in and found three active arrests warrants out for him. Rich was taken into custody.On Saturday, police ruled the shooting a homicide and identified the victim as 66-year-old David Peatman.Police said Peatman lived at the residence where the shooting happened on Griggs Road.An autopsy performed on Saturday determined Peatman’s cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the chest, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.During an event with the media on Friday afternoon, Vermont State Police confirmed that the shooting happened at the Peatman household.Maj. Dan Trudeau confirmed that the 911 call came from inside the home, and that the shooting was targeted.Officials have interviewed several potential suspects, but do not have a lead yet, according to Trudeau.The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department is providing assistance with the investigation.
