
The holiday season began early for North Country girls basketball, as they dominated Burr & Burton to secure a 43-21 win in the championship game of the MMU Girl’s Hoops Holiday Classic.The Falcons swept in aggressively, riding the play of stud sophomore Sabrine Brueck from the start. The underclassman recorded 15 points in the first half alone, utilizing her skills as both a slasher as well as a shooter.Brueck’s offense helped North Country establish a commanding 16-3 lead after the first quarter, but maybe her biggest contribution came on the defensive end.On back-to-back possessions in the first half, Brueck blocked Bulldogs’ senior guard Navaeh Camp. She continued the fill up the stat sheet after recording multiple steals, resulting in North Country layups on the other end.The Falcons head out of Jericho champions in the yearly holiday tournament, moving into a new year as a force in the Division II scene.
