
Peru High School girls basketball used dominant play on both sides of the ball to win against Saranac Lake high school 54-20 at home.The Nighthawks used a strong defensive quarter with several steals and strong rebounding to hold the Red Storm to four first-quarter points. Their defensive prowess and diverse scoring from exclusively first-years and eighth-graders helped them the rest of the way. Peru eighth-grader Reese Duprey led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 12-16 from the field. First-year Vanessa Lawyer also finished in double digits with 13 points on the night. Peru will look to keep their winning ways going against Seton Catholic high school on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 6 p.m. in a tournament matchup. Saranac Lake will look to bounce back in a non-league contest against Tupper Lake Central high school at home on Friday, Dec. 23 at 5 p.m.
