Burlington residents and community members showed their support on Tuesday night for a New North End family after their son was badly injured in a fight outside their home on Jan. 17.The vigil brought out a few dozen people with signs and candles, singing and offering words of comfort for the family. The victim’s father said he thought his son was dead last Tuesday when he went outside to find him hurt. He added that his son is showing signs of improvement. Burlington Acting Police Chief Jon Murad told NBC5 on Tuesday that information surrounding the incident would be limited because multiple minors were involved. “Police stopped a vehicle leaving the scene and identified many of the involved parties, and also responded to the hospital to speak to other involved parties. Those parties were initially uncooperative, and the incident was categorized as a disturbance,” Murad said. “Officers conducted follow-up and made contact with the most seriously injured party and there is now an open investigation. Preliminarily, it appears there was a multi-party physical altercation among several young people, one of whom sustained injuries that had to be treated at the hospital. This is an ongoing case involving juveniles from several schools, and accordingly, specific information is being kept confidential.”
