Potential Nor’easter to impact Vermont, New York by Monday Night

A potential Nor’easter could impact our region on Monday night into Tuesday, bringing with it the possibility of heavy, wet snow in Vermont and Northern New York.NBC5 is tracking an “atmospheric river” on the West Coast, which is a constant flow of moisture from the Pacific Ocean that has recently caused big snow totals in California. Extended 10-day forecast in your areaSign up for weather alertsView our interactive radarHow to sign up for push alerts on your phoneThat moisture is expected to spin up into an area of low pressure that will make its way to the Northeast Monday night into Tuesday morning, according to NBC5 First Warning Meteorologist Ben Frechette.As of now, expecting a few valley rain and mountain snow showers Monday, with the main slug of moisture pushing into the region Monday night.Expecting light rain in valley locations and wet snow for the higher terrain Monday night, eventually flipping to mostly snow throughout the day Tuesday. A wintry mix will be possible for the Champlain Valley throughout Tuesday, as temperatures will be marginal in the mid 30s.Snow continues Tuesday night, then wrapping up with snow showers heading into Wednesday.At this point, the highest snow totals look likely in the higher terrain of southern and central Vermont, as well as, the southern Adirondacks.Depending on storm track, a few inches of snow accumulation are possible across Northern New York and Vermont.Stay tuned for updated timing and amounts for next week’s storm throughout the weekend. That moisture is expected to spin up into an area of low pressure that will make its way to the Northeast Monday night into Tuesday morning, according to NBC5 First Warning Meteorologist Ben Frechette.
