Over 10,000 customers without power in Vermont more than 48 hours after storm began
Southern Vermont counties of Bennington, Windham and Windsor hardest hit

More than two days after the first snow began falling, over 10,000 customers remain without power in Vermont. Chester and Brattleboro remain the hardest hit, with more than 1000 customers without power in each town.Essex County, New York also has hundreds of outages remaining, along with Sullivan County in New Hampshire.Bennington, Windham and Windsor counties in Vermont are the hardest hit.The American Red Cross opened a regional disaster shelter at Brattleboro Union High School located at 131 Fairground Road Wednesday morning. Over 40 inches of snow fell during the intense storm, which also brought wind gusts over 40 miles per hour.Much of the storm featured extremely wet snow, before it turned to a drier consistency, which is why so many outages occurred.
