It happened on Route 9 near a logging site between Route 123 North and Route 123 South.Mayer was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze with a 19-year-old passenger from Concord. State police said they were driving west on Route 9 approaching the logging site when at the same time, a tractor-trailer was preparing to back into the site. The Chevrolet Cruze hit the logging trailer. Both Mayer and the passenger had to be extricated from the car. “Extrication tools were used to remove both patients from the vehicle, due to the weight of the trailer and the position of the vehicle underneath it, crews were assisted by the logging company using the skidder to lift the trailer while crews winched the vehicle out,” Stoddard Fire and Rescue Chief Trevor Anderson said. “Extrication time was extensive for both patients due to the complexity of the situation.” Route 9 was closed for six hours while officials investigated and the scene was cleared.
