Woman rescues abandoned subway dog thanks to social media post
The NYC free at the curb. Instagram is *** handy public service. Eagle eyed New Yorkers, send pictures of furniture or useful items. They spot that someone has tossed out in the hope that those items can find *** new life in *** new home. But last night, *** woman on her way to work sent *** photo of *** confused and sad looking pit bull mix. She’d spotted tied with *** rope in *** subway station. Heather Hamm was home for the night looking at her phone. I was actually just looking previously at foster dogs and then I had opened up Instagram and I saw her, she was the first post on there and I was like there. She is less than 24 hours later. She has *** new pink harness, *** clean bill of health from the vet who found no microchip and estimated her age at 6-9 months and *** new name, I called her Peaches and she responded. So I kind of think that’s already her name. The identity of whoever abandoned peaches here is still mystery. There are plenty of cameras above ground in the financial district and down in the subway station, but none here in this stairwell, there is enough foot traffic at all hours though, to ensure that somebody would find her. When Heather hopped in *** lift and got to the Fulton Street Station. Peaches was there with some police officers someone else had called and I was like, can I have her? And they’re like, well, she’s your dog now because she obviously likes you. The match truly couldn’t be more perfect. Heather works in *** studio that’s dog friendly. So peaches went with her today and made new dog friends. Heather grew up with dogs and was hoping to adopt one of her own. It’s been like *** running thing in my studio where everyone’s like, Heather, you need to get *** dog rescuing one the way one rescues *** piece of furniture wasn’t quite what she had in mind and certainly not the intended purpose of the Instagram account, but I found my coffee table. I found my couch that I was sitting on. When I saw this dog. I found so much on this page. So this is just my craziest stoup find yet in lower Manhattan, Sonia Rinco channel seven, Eyewitness News.
