The Burlington Police Department is investigating a shooting on Main Street that has sent one person to the hospital. Police say they responded to a call at 11:47 a.m. Saturday about an injured male at the southwest corner of Church Street and Main Street. This is near Manhattan Pizza & Pub. When officers arrived, they discovered that one man, who is in his 40s, was apparently shot in the chest. He was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. Police believe the shooting took place in an apartment close to where the victim was found. Part of Main Street and Church Street is closed off, as the investigation continues. Caution tape can be seen wrapped around the block in front of several businesses. Police also received assistance from Vermont State Police and the Burlington Fire Department. Burlington police say that this is the second shooting incident recorded in 2023.
