Watertown patrol car damaged during pursuit, no one in custody

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Watertown police said Friday that no one is in custody after a chase left one of its vehicles damaged.

City police say the chase started during a traffic stop in the 200 block of State Street (earlier information erroneously indicated it started on Factory Street) just before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The vehicle took off and the chase led police to the Pearl Street bridge, where officials say the suspect’s car smashed into the police SUV. Police said the suspect drove off in their damaged vehicle.

The police officer involved was not injured.

Police aren’t giving out any information about the suspect’s car.
