New York State Police has announced the wake and funeral service arrangements for a long-serving New York State Police captain who died from an illness stemming from his assignment at the World Trade Center.A funeral procession was also held Tuesday night. It spanned from Plattsburgh to Peru.Capt. Christopher Garrow, of Peru, died on Monday from an illness he developed following his work at Ground Zero in the days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack in New York City.Garrow, 47, had served as a member of the force for 23 years and spent most of his career serving the North Country as a member of Troop B, according to officials.He also served as a Marine overseas for several years.He is survived by his wife, Jillian, and two daughters, Maggie and Ella.Arrangements A wake will be held for Garrow on Thursday, June 15 from 1-4 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home on Mannix Rd. in Peru. The wake is closed to the media, according to state police.A funeral service will be held the following day, on June 16 at 11 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Church on Cornelia Street in Plattsburgh. Media will not be allowed inside the church during the service, according to officials.
