<THIS THIS IS AN NBC5 FIRST WARNING WEATHER ALERT. TOP OF THE HOUR HERE AT 8:00 WITH AN UPDATE LIVE HERE ON NBC5 AS THIS SEVERE WEATHER WORKS OFF TO THE EAST, MOST OF OUR WARNINGS ARE SLOWLY STARTING TO COME DOWN AND SOME NEW ONES ARE NOT BEING ISSUED. SO AS OF 8:00, THE WIND RISK IS COMING DOWN. THE WIND WOULD BE IN THE YELLOW BOXES. SO WE’VE STILL GOT A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SAINT JAY IN MONTPELIER. THERE’S ANOTHER ONE FOR WINDHAM COUNTY, WHICH INCLUDES BRATTLEBORO. BUT THEN RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, THE FLASH FLOOD RISK ZONE IS IN THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR MIDDLEBURY AND RUTLAND. SO WE’LL ZOOM IN AND GIVE YOU SOME UPDATES HERE. THIS WARNING FOR SAINT JOHNSBURY GOES FOR ANOTHER 15 MINUTES. IT INCLUDES BURKE AND OVER TO HARDWICK AND CABOT AND KALLUS AND MONTPELIER JUST LOOKING AT THE RADAR IMAGERY, THOUGH, IT LOOKS KIND OF RAGGED. IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S FALLING APART. SO I THINK THIS WARNING WILL GO AWAY AT 815 AND THERE PROBABLY WON’T BE ONE AS BIG AS THAT. ONCE THEY DECIDE WHAT THEY’RE GOING TO DO. THERE IS NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING RIGHT NOW FOR THE UPPER VALLEY. THERE’S CERTAINLY SOME HEAVY RAIN, SOME THUNDERSTORMS COMING IN. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE WIND DAMAGE THREAT HAS GONE DOWN JUST ENOUGH. IN WOODSTOCK AND QUECHEE AND WINDSOR AND LUDLOW RIGHT THERE. OF COURSE, VERY HARD HIT. AND AS WE SWITCH ON THE ESTIMATED RAINFALL HERE, THE RAIN THAT IS OF CONCERN IS IN THE GREEN AREA. SO IT’S A LOT OF ADDISON COUNTY SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, SOME OF ORANGE COUNTY AND THEN AS WE GET DOWN INTO THE NORTHERN RUTLAND COUNTY AREA FOR 1 TO 3IN OF RAINFALL IN JUST A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS. SO FLASH FLOODING EITHER ONGOING OR VERY POSSIBLE HERE IN THE GREEN AREA UNTIL ABOUT 10 P.M. THIS EVENING OR SO. AND LOOK AT THAT AS WE’RE ON THE A NEW FLASH FLOOD WARNING OUT HERE. THIS ONE EXTENDS DOWN INTO THE LUDLOW AREA AND AND WE’LL JUST MOVE THE RADAR SCREEN HERE. SO WE CAN GET YOU. IT’S NEW. WE’LL GET YOU THE TIME. 11:00. SO THIS ONE HERE IN THE HARD HIT LUDLOW AREA IS TILL 11. BUT YOU SEE WEST IN THERE, WE’VE HEARD ABOUT THE WESTERN THEATER WESTON AND LONDONDERRY ARE OUT OF THAT FLASH FLOOD WARNING. SO WE’LL BE WATCHING THAT AREA VERY CLOSELY. AND THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE LINE WITH A LIGHTNING LAYER TURNED ON. SEE HOW THE LIGHTNING IS VERY MUCH DIMINISHING. THAT’S AN INDICATION TO US THAT THE LINE IS WEAKER AND A LOT WEAKER THAN IT WAS A HALF HOUR AGO IN SOUTHERN VERMONT. SO A LITTLE BIT OF SOME GOOD NEWS HERE THAT THE LINE IS WEAKENING AS IT APPROACHES THE CONNECTICUT RIVER AND NEW HAMPSHIRE. A LOT OF REPORTS HAVE COME IN, THOUGH. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF FUNNEL CLOUDS REPORTED. NO CONFIRMED TORNADOES. RIGHT NOW, BUT WE HAVE A LOT OF DAMAGE REPORTS IN BENSON AND IN SHOREHAM AND BRIDPORT IN PARTICULAR. WE’VE GOT A COUPLE OF CREWS ACROSS THE STATE SURVEYING WHAT’S GOING ON. IF YOU HAVE SOME WIND DAMAGE TO REPORT OR SOME FLOODING, PLEASE LET US KNOW. IT HELPS BOTH US TELL THE STORY, BUT WE ALSO RELAYED THAT ON TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. AND LOOK AT THAT, A NEW WARNING JUST OUT NOW FOR THE GRAFTON COUNTY AREA. THIS INCLUDES LEBANON AND PLYMOUTH. AND WE’LL SHOW YOU WHEN THAT GOES. UNTIL SINCE IT JUST CAME OUT ON TV HERE. THIS ONE GOES UNTIL ALL WE’LL ZOOM IN HERE AND SHOW YOU. IT’S MOST GRAFTON COUNTY UNTIL 845. SO THE NEXT 45 MINUTES HERE ARE EAST OF THE CONNECTICUT RIVER AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEWFOUND LAKE AREA, PLYMOUTH, WATERVILLE VALLEY, AND THEN UP TOWARDS FRANCONIA AND NOTCH. SO BACK OUT TO THE WIDE VIEW, THE RISK IS GENERALLY GOING DOWN OVERALL WHILE THERE’S STILL SOME POCKETS THAT HAVE THE CONCERN. SO WE WILL WATCH IT. WE’RE GATHERING THE REPOR

Despite rumors, the state of VT is NOT pre-emptively closing roads ahead of tonight’s storm. You are encouraged to judge whether travel is safe, stay away from floodwaters, stay off damaged, flooded, and closed roads.
