Additional showers and storms are likely to redevelop during the day on Friday with a cold front shifting southeast Friday afternoon. Once the front moves out, dry weather returns, with seasonable conditions throughout Vermont and northern New York. The next weather system is expected to make it to the region late Monday into Tuesday. Over six inches of rain fell in Middlebury between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday evening.That is over a month’s worth of rain, on average, in just three hours time.Many parts of town experienced flash flooding, especially along Seymour Street.Videos sent to NBC5 News showed several cars stranded and abandoned in the rapidly rising water.Elsewhere across Addison County, flooding was reported.Vermont Route 125 is closed near where it meets up with Route 100 because of a mudslide.Additional pockets of flooding are possible through Friday across the region.
