“The most generous and loving person I’ve ever known.”It was an emotional moment for Mel Gregory as he shared the news on Facebook Friday that his wife Linda passed and is at peace. Wichita Northwest High School football players embraced Mel.“Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you very much,” Mel said to them as he stood on the sidelines taking photos, which is what the couple did together under Friday night lights most falls.”Number one she doesn’t blame any of the kids. Number two this was her school. She was from here. She didn’t go to any school. But she loved these people,” Mel said. “She wants to know everybody the kids are her primary concern.”Lina fell and hit her head in a sideline collision last Monday. She was immediately taken to a local hospital where Mel said her condition worsened and she was on life support. She eventually succumbed to her injuries.Taking the field after what happened Monday night was not easy for Mel.”It’s going to be difficult. Going to be difficult. I’ve got her camera that she was using that night. And I just want to try to do as best as I can. I may not shoot a lot, but I want to do what I can,” Mel said.The photos Linda took are worth a thousand words. Similarly, Mel has a thousand memories of when his wife would take photos at Wichita Northwest High School football games.”I can’t tell you what she says. But I think she would love it that I was carrying on our tradition,” Mel said.
