Meeting underway on future of Watertown’s zoo

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A meeting with a sense of urgency is called for Wednesday involving Zoo New York in Watertown’s Thompson Park.

Last week community stakeholders were asked to attend the meeting and were told the zoo is reaching a critical juncture where leaders need to decide if the zoo should continue to be maintained.

Greater Watertown – North Country Chamber of Commerce President Kayla Jamieson told members in an email the zoo is at “a critical turning point.” She continued, “If we want to keep this community treasure, it will be important that your voice be heard.”

The meeting started at 5 o’clock. We have a reporter there and look for an update on 7 News Tonight at 11 p.m.
