
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – It’s another football Friday night around the North Country with plenty of gridiron action.
The Watertown game against Fowler would end earlier than expected. With less than one minute left in the first half, a skirmish broke out between the two teams after a play.
Both sidelines joined in on what became an ugly scene and the game was called off soon after. It will be interesting to see what is done as far as punishment for both teams and what ramifications it may have concerning possible sectional play.
Before the abrupt ending, Fowler striked first when Tynez Harp finds Jayderr Wilhite for the touchdown: 8-0 Fowler.
The Cyclones defense came up big with the sack of Harp.
This game was called just before halftime after a skermish broke out between the 2 teams. Fowler led the game 20-7 when the game was called.
In Section 3 Class B Football from Philadelphia, Indian River hosted Chittenango.
The Warriors take the early lead when Kane Lynch finds a hole and weaves 12 yards for the touchdown: 8-0 Warriors.
Late in the 1st, Indian River adds to its lead when Riley Alexander connects with Brady Lynch for the 15 yard touchdown pass: 16-0 Warriors.
In the 2nd quarter, Fred Haynes takes it in from 3 yards out: 24-0 Indian River.
Indian River rolls past Chittenango 60-26.
In Section 3 Class B-2 Football, South Jeff was at Jamesville DeWitt.
In the 1st quarter, Landon LaDuke hits Kaleb McCarger for a 39 yard touchdown: South Jeff up 14.
Then it was LaDuke to Cobin O’Brien for an 11 yard touchdown pass: 21-0 South Jeff.
Robert Piddock then picks up the loose ball and flips it to Adam Pooler who takes it in for 6.
South Jeff beats Jamesville DeWitt 52-8.
In Section 3 Class C Football from Lowville, the Red Raiders hosted Adirondack.
In the 1st quarter, the score was 8-0 Adirondack when Logan Watson hits Devin Swernik who goes 60 yards for the score: Red Raiders down 8-6.
In the 2nd quarter, it was Lowville down 16-6 when Watson finds Dominic Swernik for 6: 16-14 Adirondack.
With the score 24-14, Watson connects with Dominic Swernik again: 24-20 Adirondack.
Adirondack beats Lowville 46-34.
Another Section 3 Class C Football contest in Dexter, General Brown facing Little Falls.
In the 1st quarter, the Lions take the lead when Aiden McManaman calls his own number and scampers 60 yards down the sideline for the touchdown: 6-0 Lions.
Then it was McManaman doing it through the air as he connects with Ryan Chamberlain for a 50 yard gain that set up another Lions score.
With the Lions up 12-0, Drew Pauly goes in from 3 yards out.
General Brown beats Little Falls 66-7.
In NAC Football, it was Gouverneur at Massena.
The Wildcats finish the opening drive on Holden Stowell’s pass to Gunner Simmons to make it 51 yards. 7-0 Gouverneur.
Vinny Thomas escapes up the middle, fends off would-be tackles to score: 14-0 Wildcats.
Stowell airs it out to Raine Rumble on a 55-yard touchdown strike.
Then it was Stowell to Thomas with 54 yards to the house.
Next, Drew Gates on the handoff, three yards up the middle: 35-0 Gouverneur.
Then it was Stowell to Thomas for a 70-yard score. Stowell on the keeper zigzags for a 27-yard score.
Connor Witherell plunges in from the three-yard line.
On a kick return, Thomas races 70 yards for his fourth touchdown.
Gouverneur shut down Massena 62-0.
Also in NAC Football, it was Malone at Ogdensburg.
On thevBlue Devils first drive, there was a direct snap to Teagan Frederick who churns his way inside, 10 yards to the end zone. 7-0 OFA.
Madden West hands to Frederick who dives up the middle for a 4-yard score: 14-0 OFA.
Parker Murray went 7-for-8 on extra-point kicks.
End around for Carson Ramie, four yards to paydirt. 21-0 OFA.
Blue Devils beat Malone 55-14.
