WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – More than 30 vendors and organizations made their way to Thompson Park Saturday as part of “Make a Mark on Canine Cancer”.
The event, hosted by local non-profit Paws 4 Potter, aimed to raise money for both canine and feline cancer research.
Folks brought their furry friends and had the chance to shop and interact with a number of animal based associations like the SPCA.
Organizer Kyle Stevenson started Paws 4 Potter back in 2016 after losing her dog Potter to cancer. She says her main goal was to make sure others won’t have to go through what she did. Since then the organization has managed to raise $75,000 and attendance seems to be growing each year.
“It’s just wonderful that people are so supportive of a small organization like this. To bring together everybody and come together to support each other and raise awareness for canine cancer,” said Stevenson.
Stevenson says on average the event raises around $10,000 each year.
