WATCH: Florida canal crash and rescue captured on video
A home security camera caught a car crashing into a canal Sunday morning in Cape Coral, Florida, and then the rescue of the driver.Video shows the car driving at what looks like a high rate of speed before swerving into a yard, hitting a bump, and landing in the canal. Neighbors said it came within feet of slamming into a child.“He was standing right on the edge of the canal and I can only imagine how he’s feeling,” said Lorraine Holder, who lives on the canal. Holder went to check her security cameras and sure enough, she watched the car land right in the canal in her backyard. “I was just nervous, I was scared because after seeing the car go completely airborne, I was like OK, now this is something serious,” explained Holder. The driver was stuck in the car for a few minutes as he tried to get around the deployed airbags. A bystander jumped into the canal and helped the driver get away from the car as it sank into the canal.
