WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Jefferson Community College celebrated Veteran’s Day Friday with a luncheon.
Veteran students, staff members, alumni and their families were invited to enjoy free food at the college’s collaborative learning center. Organizers emphasized JCC has a close relationship with Fort Drum.
“As a retired veteran it means a lot to me to see past, current soldiers being recognized for their service and being remembered and not forgotten,” said Nick Thornthwaite, a veteran, JCC alumnus and professor at the college.
Although Veterans Day was widely observed Friday, the actual holiday is Saturday.
