TOWN OF CHAMPION, New York (WWNY) – One person is displaced after a fire broke out at a Town of Champion home Friday afternoon.
Fire crews say this home on Putnam Hill Road was engulfed in flames when they responded to the call around 3:30 p.m.
No one was home when the fire broke out.
Crews say they initially fought the fire from the inside but the damage made it too dangerous to continue.
Crews then switched to fighting the fire from the outside.
“It was just pushing fire from all four sides. Looked like a slow, hot fire going inside. Downstairs and upstairs were all involved,” said Great Bend Fire Chief Mark Pomerville.
Seven fire departments responded. No word was provided on what caused the fire or where it started.
