Friday Sports: Hardwood competition kicks off with a pair of holiday tournaments

LAFARGEVILLE, New York (WWNY) – The day after Thanksgiving signals the beginning of the winter sports season with holiday tournament basketball. We begin on the hardwood with the LaFargeville Boys’ Turkey Tip Off.

In the first game, Morristown took on Thousand Islands. Kameron Toland takes it to the tin for the Green Jackets.

Then it was Donovan Pettit with the move in the paint for the Vikings.

Then it was Dominic Perretta from the land of threes and it was all net.

Next, it was Terin Rosenbaker with a strong inside presence for the Green Jackets. Final: Morristown 57, Thousand Islands 32.

In the second game, the host team LaFargeville took on Lyme.

The pass inside to Mason Klossner for the layup, then it was Nathan Wyatt with the steal. He goes coast to coast for 2.

Then it was Cooper Kaplan for Lyme with the kiss off the glass.

Wyatt for LaFargeville with 15 points, he also shows hustle breaking up a fast break effort.

Then it was Bradley Smith from beyond the arc: it was all net.

It was Wyatt with the basket and he is fouled. Jeremy Shimel leads the Red Knights with 16 points. Final: LaFargeville 49, Lyme 42.

In NAC Boys’ Basketball, the Brady Frazer Tournament was at St. Regis Falls.

It was Gohay Lazore with a floater in the paint. Shamrocks up 13-8.

Then it was Dustin Baker with the steal and layup which triggers a Panthers surge.

After another turnover, Saige Sovie sends Mason Poirier to the rack. Panthers lead 14-13.

Isaac Childs misfires, but Anthony Jaing gets the putback in a 15-point Brushton run.

Cruise Gibson gets the rebound for the Shamrocks.

Everyone gets a touch quickly around the perimeter, with Childs finishing with the basket. Brushton-Moira beat Salmon River 42-31.

In the other semifinal, Immaculate Heart met St. Regis Falls.

Peter Arcadi gets the rebound and the game’s first bucket for the Saints.

Then it was Reid Mulverhill from behind the arc who splashes a three-pointer: 5-0 St. Regis.

After Arcadi’s miss, 6′8″ Landon Cox cleans up the glass.

On the inbound, it was Connor Loving with a stepback three-ball that cuts the lead to 7-3.

Scott Ellsworth lines up one of his six three-pointers but the Cavs trail 11-6.

Then it was Cox also from the Land of Threes.

Next, it was Loving to Tery Chen for a basket in the paint.

It was Mulverhill to Cox who saves for Arcadi trailing. Arcadi scored 27, while Cox dropped in 21.

St. Regis Falls beat IHC 69-38.
