Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the biggest shopping days of the entire year. It’s known for doorbuster deals, massive markdowns and super savings, and over the years, Black Friday sales have extended through Cyber Monday as more shoppers have taken to doing their shopping online rather than rushing to retail stores. This year, Amazon has decided to do things differently. Last year, Amazon held a Prime Day-like sale for Black Friday, making their deals live on the morning of Thanksgiving and having Black Friday deals live for 48 hours. Amazon is activated their Black Friday deals a whole week early, slashing prices on Nov. 17 and have deals live all the way through Cyber Monday. Let’s say we’re looking for a vacuum cleaner this Cyber Monday and after combing through the deals page, we find this Dyson V11 cordless stick vacuum is on sale. Amazon is showing us that the cordless stick vacuum has a deal going on right now as it is 30% off, giving us $170 worth of savings. Sounds great right? It does, but we want to make sure this deal is worth it so we copy the product link and we go to a price tracker website like CamelCamelCamel. This is the website we use all the time before we decide whether or not to share a deal with you and it’s because CamelCamelCamel typically tracks prices on items ever since they were posted on Amazon. We paste the link into CamelCamelCamel and it shows us a chart that shows what the price of this Dyson V11 cordless stick vacuum has been. We see that while the 30% discount is great, it isn’t the lowest price CamelCamelCamel has seen (the best deal according to the tracker has been 37% off). With that information, you can now decide whether you want to wait until Black Friday proper to see if the Dyson vacuum drops to that price, or if the savings are good for your budget, you can add to your cart and buy it. Honey will tell you if they see an Amazon item lower on another siteLet’s say CamelCamelCamel showed the Dyson vacuum was actually at its best price on Amazon, how could we check to see if that’s really the best deal online we could find? There’s a browser extension we use called Honey.Honey is a browser extension that automatically searches for the internet’s best coupons on tens of thousands of sites. It can also tell you on Amazon if they found out there is a different seller that has a better price on Amazon, as well as track if there’s another retailer that may have a better deal. Best part? It’s free. All it takes is adding Honey to your browser extensions and it does the work from there. Let’s use an item that may be on many people’s lists this holiday season: The PlayStation 5, more specifically, the PlayStation 5 Disc Console – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Bundle. As of this writing, the PlayStation 5 bundle is 11% off on Amazon, which Amazon says is the lowest price in the last 30 days. Using CamelCamelCamel, it backs up Amazon’s claim and says that this is the best price it’s ever seen on the item. Using Honey, we’re able to see that this is the best seller on Amazon, but Honey wants us to compare it to five other stores and see if Amazon is truly where we could get the best deal. According to Honey, the best deal would be Walmart because there’s an opportunity for cash-back with Honey that isn’t available on Amazon. Though you can also see on the list that the cashback opportunity is also available at Target, and the potential for more savings with coupons. Keep an eye out for coupons that give you extra savings on AmazonNow that you know about CamelCamelCamel and Honey, there’s one more thing you need to do to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible on Amazon during your Black Friday shopping spree. You need to watch for coupons that could be clipped and added to your order.
