A man looking for his wife at a South Carolina shopping center said he got quite a surprise when he witnessed a wild animal caught in a store’s glass entrance.Eric Lasker said he was meeting his wife, Janice, on Thursday just after noon when he saw a deer struggling between two glass doors at the entrance to the Old Navy store.”I looked to my right and saw this deer was trapped,” Lasker said. “Poor thing. It was all glass, with two sets of double glass doors leading into the store, so there’s glass on all sides and he or she was doing everything to get out.”Lasker described the deer “bouncing from one side of the lobby entrance to the other,” using his hind legs to try to break the glass. Lasker said he grabbed his phone. “I was just fumbling,” he said as he tried to capture the strange sight. “I got the tail end of it right when the deer was breaking out.”He said he didn’t know how long the deer was trapped but said it took off running through the parking lot.”It was amazing to see,” Lasker said. “I asked myself, ‘Am I really seeing this?’ I was looking for my wife and ended up seeing a deer.”Lasker said he parked his truck and walked to the entrance, where an employee was assessing the damage. “I told her, ‘I bet this wasn’t covered in your training manual,’ and she said, ‘You’re right,'” Lasker said.He said just minutes after the incident, he heard sirens responding very close to the shopping center.Sister station WYFF has confirmed that the deer collided with a car and then kept running. Officials at the scene said one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
